JAMIE OLIVER: THE GEORGIAN FEAST

We’ve got an action–packed event calendar here at Jamie Oliver Catherine St this summer. After the success of our brilliant evening with Calum Franklin (“London’s King of Pies”, according to Jamie) last month, we’re kicking off another
event on 22 July!

Jamie Oliver: The Georgian Feast will be a four-course dinner built around the flavours that the chef fell in love with during his travels to Tbilisi and Kakheti in Channel 4’s Jamie Eats Georgia, and was created in collaboration with chef Guram Baghdoshvili, also known as the ‘Guardian of Georgian Cuisine’. Unsurprisingly, we sold out in just one day.

“I still remember the smell of slow-cooked lamb in my mother’s kitchen,” says Guram, who helped Jamie create the menu. “This is the food of my culture and being part of this supper club is an amazing opportunity to exchange experiences and introduce Georgian cuisine to a global audience. Jamie has inspired so many home cooks to appreciate simple ingredients.
I hope to do the same.”

A SUPRA-STYLE SUPPER

Introduced by Jamie himself on the night, the menu starts with a traditional appetiser platter, known as Gobi, with spiced vegetable dips, cheese and bread; Nigvziani Badrijani, fried and stuffed aubergine with a punchy walnut and garlic paste; and Khinkali dumplings, one of Georgia’s most iconic dishes. All will be served Supra-style on sharing dishes.

For mains, Chkmeruli, a sumptuous chicken in garlic sauce, will be served alongside Ajapsandali — Georgia’s aromatic answer to Ratatouille. Sides include red rice, a fresh salad of mixed leaves, dried marigolds and a blackberry dressing, plus freshly baked Georgian-style bread. To finish, a walnut frangipane tart with green plums and crème fraîche that’ll knock your socks off.

There’s also an incredible Georgian wine package that has been expertly selected to compliment each course. Many of the wines pay homage to wine-making traditions going back over 8,000 years..
